The Churches God Will Bless

One day Jesus left the crowds, and taking His disciples as a group up a mount, He taught them lessons on how to be blessed.

Do we want our church to be successful – or to be blessed? We can be successful by worldly standards without any real blessing!

So what kind of churches does God bless?

First of all God blesses HUMBLE churches! Churches that are “poor in spirit.” The blessing they receive is the KINGDOM!

It’s not the mega church that is BIG in God’s sight: “LITTLE FLOCK, it is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom!”

Proud churches are not blessed – they are blind!

Then again, God blesses GRIEVING churches. And He blesses them with comfort.

The grieving Church mourns: over families gone astray – over countries where the Gospel message is unknown – over the lack of unity.

Churches that dance when they should mourn, are not blessed, they are deceived!

Next, I notice that God wants to bless MEEK churches. He will bless them with an inheritance. They will inherit the earth. Meek churches do not seek to be on the social ladder. That attitude belongs to the world – not the Church!

“If we suffer, we shall also reign with him!”

Boasting churches are not blessed, but POOR.

HUNGRY churches are also in line for the blessing. They shall be SATISFIED!

God blesses those who want blessing!  “For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground…”    Isaiah 44:3.

We can have as much righteousness as we care to have. But we need to truly hunger and thirst for God, and the things of God: “As the hart pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after thee, O God.”

Churches that are self-satisfied are not blessed – they are famished!

We notice there is also a blessing for MERCIFUL churches. They shall OBTAIN MERCY!

Only those who can forgive can know forgiveness. Jesus prayed that His followers would enjoy unity. Sadly, rather than heal divisions, most people would rather just join another church. It takes a real merciful heart to forgive the divisions of the past!

Churches that are divided are not blessed – they are deceived.

The sixth lesson that Jesus taught His disciples is that the Heavenly Father blesses PURE churches!

“Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, And has not sworn deceitfully. He shall receive a blessing from the LORD And righteousness from the God of his salvation.” Psalm 24:3-5.

Then comes that word: PEACEMAKING! God will bless peacemaking churches! They are true SONS of God.

Being a peacemaker is not “giving in” every time. Sometimes people must be confronted. There were to ladies who Paul challenged. They were called Euodia, and Syntyche. Euodia means “Sweet Fragrance” and Syntyche means “Happy-go-Lucky! But these girls didn’t live up to their names. Every time they came to church, they quarrelled. Paul begged of them to stop the war, and be OF THE SAME MIND!

The saddest churches are those who have lost God’s peace through fights and backbiting.

Finally, Jesus taught His disciples that God blesses FIGHTING churches. Churches that will stand up for righteousness, and will call sin what it is, SIN! He says the persecuted church is blessed. So we need to ask why the Church is persecuted at all. And the answer is simple: The persecuted Church is the FIGHTING CHURCH. It stands its ground and fights against evil.

“Those who live godly in Christ Jesus SHALL suffer persecution! Co-exist with the world and we’ll get no flack! And we’ll get no blessing either!

When we said “YES!” to the Lord, we said “YES!” to war!

Did the evangelist promise you pie in the sky? Jesus didn’t!

Not persecuted? Go and tell your friends and family and neighbours that you believe in …

  • The sanctity of marriage. The union of one MAN and one WOMAN!
  • The right to life of the unborn child!
  • The state of Israel! – Tell them that God is a ZIONIST. That He loves Israel. And tells us to pray for Jerusalem, and that we shall prosper if we do so!

You will soon show the scars of battle, and persecution!

Churches that do not stand up against sin are not blessed, they are cowards!
